See the breaking glass In the underpass
I ended up doing a lot of religious FB site reading tonight thanks to a friend.
I finally posted in the FB Atheist's page on the thread that occurred due to his comments.

The friend's initial post was : There's so much hatred and intolerance on this page. Is feeling smug and superior really a prereq for being an atheist? Religious fanatics have nothing on your guys.
The 'debate' then erupted. it erupted into over 90 comments.
I got inspired, so I went through the site and flipped through some other related ones. Then I posted my thoughts.

Here is the main part of my post - minus directed commentsCollapse )
The thread in it's entirety, including my directed comments, can be viewed here: http://www.facebook.com/nogods/posts/501745513935#!/jd.hobbes/posts/502147178935

I'm interested in hearing from you. So i am reposting and offering the link.
Specific FB tagging will be done later

So i'll paint a scene, from memory, so I'll know who murdered me...
It's 7:40 in the f'n morning, the alarm has gone off for me to wake of Kristin, and I have not slept.

I didn't watch anything or play on my shiny new.
I didn't play Dragon Age or Mass Effect
I didn't smoke a shisha.
I just did not frelling fall asleep

And of course, now that the alarm has gone off for me to start my day, my body is trying to tell me to take a frakkin nap.
But no, you see, that is a trap. I will sleep through my alarm, wake up at noon or later and miss accomplishing anything with my freakin' day.
My stupid brain trying to self-sabotage me...and I will not fuckin let it.

Time to have some coffee while I check out LJ and FB.
1 coal's worth of shisha and then maybe a jog through the park.
Then a shower and more coffee.

Hello, Old friend
Well hello LJ,

It's been a while and I have to say you look different than I remember.
Now that I have a computer, will you see me more often? Perhaps.

I'll begin with my frustration over a link that's been running around.

No...not the zodiac one...maybe some other time.

Dire Straits and the CBSC.

For those unawares, at least from what I've read, the CBSC has determined that 'Money for Nothing' by the Dire Straits (and Sting), what I consider to be the anthem that bannered in the video generation,  should be censored for continued airplay in Canada.

I'm not sure what i actually find more frustrating.
A> That, already hating that certain words are censored for airplay in Canada, another has been added to the list.
B> That it took them nearly 30 fucking years to figure out that the word Faggot is offensive!
C> That they still don't consider 'Chicks' offensive???

the whole point of the song is that it's told from the perspective of some working class schmo caricature of the worst kind. The lazy fat stereotype who scratches his exposed belly, isn't well educated and thinks the life of a musician (or probably any artist) is an easy life that, only if he had learned to do it too, he could've had for himself despite his complete lack of drive. The use of Faggot is meant to represent his cultural shortsightedness. You could replace it with 'mother - fucker', but not only would have that been censored right off the bat, but it wouldn't quite capture the ignorance of the caricature.

Okay. i breathe now.

Consider yourselve lucky
Eri managed to save y'all from me posting song lyrics.
I'm certain that this is merely a delay of the inevitable.

I may still post on how much I miss my baby.

You can call me Al!
I am pretty much moved in. All the boxes and furniture is in place. Just a couple of things left to unpack and a couple of small changes to make.

- 1 display case to build.
- Figure out why my washer isn't taking in the water
- Drill holes in the cabinets to attach the latches so the kittens don't go running around in there.
- Figure out how I'm going to pay for all this!

On the negative front:

- I'm still awaiting the box spring
- I haven't found my sister's cat for over an hour.
- I had to go to court on Wednesday morning after only finding out at 3:30 in the morning because I suck at checking my mail

any questions?

if you be my bodyguard, I will be your long lost pal....
So; for anyone reading this who doesn't already know the status of my existence:

I am working Monday to Fridays at Kitco. 1pm to 9pm. My break is usually at 6pm. It's a really nice environment, though I think the shift is really f'ng up my life.

I am single.

I am running 1 game on Wednesday nights. It's a werewolf table top game and starts at 10pm and finishes around 1am. There is room for anyone interested. Irregular attendance is acceptable.

I will be starting a smaller with Alan and Anna every second Sunday. This will encourage me to visit them more often as I'm pretty good at showing up for my responsibilities.

I haven't had much good karaoke lately. I don't like the selection at Maz anymore, or the sound system. PJ on Saturdays? Who's going to go with me? Aren't there better things to do on a Saturday night during the summer in Montreal?

It's getting annoying, I'd gotten used to using Karaoke as my means of expressing myself to release my emotions.

Family and home:

I will be moving into a new apartment for July 1st. Thank freakin' god cuz I hate this apartment. I will be moving in with my sister, next door to Kristin. It's a 6+1/2 across from a big park with a front and back balcony.

It's a fun story how i got this one. Ask me about it sometime.

My dad is my dad and is more frustrating than ever. Hopefully my sister transitioning into moving out will help him move on as well.

I still have daily migraines. Sometimes they come with nosebleeds, sometimes worse...... No I'm doing anything about it.

KG. I'm not a good camper, but I really am looking forward to it. Not to underplay the importance of the support I received from everyone else, but I don't know how I would've survived last summer if it wasn't for KG. It wsa perfect timing.

Am I forgetting anything?

I don't find this amusing anymore.
Dance with Dragons should come out by end of June.

I wish I had the laptop promised to me so I could post more regularly like I used to. Real posts that get shit out of my head, when I'm feeling it.

If anyone wants to treat me to Shisha at Sher Hazad sometime in the next week, I wouldn't complain.

Get these mutts away from me.
Since Christmas...

- My Shinzu returned, complete with coffee maker!
- Boxing day on the 29th was good.
- Things have been nice all around, except when I'm being stupid.
- New Years was fun.
- New years day was awesome.
- Shisha has been had, several times.
- Property has been destroyed (this counts as me being stupid).
- New people have been met.

-I take home a dvd/vhs player courtesy of Julie. (it's funny how vhs sets off the spell check, but dvd doesn't)
- I take home 4 seasons of Babylon 5 courtesy Kyn
- I read Planet Hulk, also courtesy Kyn
- Clean litter and toss trash.
- Rest, since I only got 3 hours last night.

Communication will also be good.

I really need a computer so I can post real thoughts more regularly, and not just these types of "what's up" posts. i have a big jumbled mess in here and i want to get it out.

I also haven't sang in a while.
Maybe dancing in a couple of Saturdays. Passeport, or regular "dance" music?

This is me rambling.
